Study of Latin American cinema edited by Alberto Elena and Marina Diaz Lopez and published in Wallflower's 24 frames series. Essays on individual films in chronological order are used to surveys important facets of cinema in South and Central America and the Spanish speaking Caribbean. The essays are mainly by writers from Latin America and films chosen include Los Olvidados; Black God, White Devil; Memories of Underdevelopment, The Battle of Chile, The Official Version and Amores Perros. Films analysed include titles from Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Cuba. There is a preface by Brazilian Director Walter Salles.
