A pamphlet for an arts week, celebrating 90 years of the East Finchley Picturehouse (now the Phoenix Cinema), held from the 24th to the 19th of June 2000. The event sought to celebrate British history through film, as well as to look towards the future of the Phoenix. Events include a programme of shorts from 1909 to 1916 shot around East Finchley, a showing of A Night at the Opera to celebrate the Marx Brothers, a preview of the re-release of A Bout de Souffle, to celebrate the cinema's history as an independent art-house cinema, as well as a number of shorts from archives alongside screenings of Woody Allen's Sweet & Lowdown, including Vincent (Tim Burton, 1982). Finally, an exhibition on cinema equipment, including a 16-mm projector and hand-cranked camera was hosted by collector Alex Nunes, as well as of planned foyer renovation scheduled for the summer of 2001.
